Stepping back from your career or business
- I've sold my business. What should I do first?
- How do I move from earning to drawing, tax-efficiently?
- When should I take my pensions, and from which pot?
You've built significant wealth through your career or your business. The question now is how to make the most of it, for yourself and for your family.
Armstrong Wealth Ltd is an independent financial advice firm based in Tunbridge Wells, advising individuals and families across Kent, Sussex, Surrey and London on wealth management, retirement, inheritance and borrowing.
Our clients have often done the hard part already. They've built their wealth through years of work or by building a business. What they want now is to organise it well, keep more of it, and use it for the things that matter most.
Not sure where to start? Many of our clients weren't. We can begin by looking at everything together.
Review my whole positionBusy careers and businesses can leave little time to organise your finances. Pensions from several employers, ISAs, shares, property and perhaps the proceeds of a business, each set up for a good reason, but rarely looked at together.
Bringing it into one clear plan is where we start.
You stay in control of every decision. Our job is to make each one clear.
We bring together everything you own, including pensions, investments, property, business interests and borrowing, so you can see your whole position in one place.
We talk about what you want your wealth to do: the life you want to lead, when you want to step back, and what you'd like to do for your family.
We recommend how to organise, invest and pass on your wealth, and explain each recommendation in plain English, including what it costs, so you can decide with confidence.
Wealth management at Armstrong Wealth Ltd is an ongoing advice relationship. We build your plan, recommend and oversee the investments within it, and keep both up to date as your life, the tax rules and the markets change.
Estate and tax planning is available to Wealth Management clients for a separate, agreed fee. We help you use allowances and gifting and, where inheritance tax is a concern, appropriate plans, including trust arrangements available through our providers. Estate and tax planning are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invested. Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and may change in the future.
Your home is often your largest asset. Whether you're financing a significant purchase, repaying an interest-only mortgage or considering borrowing in later life, we look at the decision alongside the rest of your wealth.
Whole of market mortgage advice for larger loans and complex income, including company directors, the self-employed and bonus earners.
As financial planners as well as mortgage advisers, we can look at the different ways to repay, not just another mortgage.
We look at the alternatives first, including not borrowing at all. We explain the effect on inheritance and benefits, and family members are welcome to join our conversations.
This is a lifetime mortgage. To understand the features and risks, ask for a personalised illustration. A lifetime mortgage will reduce the value of your estate and may affect your entitlement to means-tested benefits. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
I am one hundred percent pleased with Armstrong Wealth. I recommend them to anybody, but especially if they need to find a calm in a financial storm.Mrs Jackie MeyerFinancial planning client

You will never unknowingly pay for anything. Every fee is explained and agreed with you in writing before any work begins.
An independent financial adviser can recommend products from across the whole market, not just a limited range of providers. Armstrong Wealth Ltd is an independent firm based in Tunbridge Wells, so our recommendations are based on what suits you, including keeping what you already have.
Usually, nothing in a hurry. We start by understanding your whole position, the tax already paid or due, and what you want the money to do, before recommending how to invest it, draw on it or pass it on.
Yes. From 6 April 2027, most unused pension funds and pension death benefits are due to be included in the value of an estate for inheritance tax. Death-in-service benefits are excluded, and in most cases pension benefits passing to a spouse or civil partner remain exempt. How this affects you depends on your circumstances, and tax rules can change. If your pension is a large part of what you plan to leave, we can review your plans with you.
People who have built substantial pensions, savings and investments and want a long-term relationship with an independent adviser. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so at our first conversation and point you towards help that is.
We give whole of market advice on lifetime mortgages, the most common type of equity release. We do not advise on home reversion plans. We're members of the Equity Release Council.
